Train tickets Innsbruck area

Hi,

Is anyone able to tell me please whether there are special transport passes or day tickets in the area between Innsbruck and Vienna and north to Garmisch-Partenkirchen? I've been waiting for December tickets to become available for general sale but I have also wondered whether we should be considering a pass, like the Sud Tirol pass. There are two of us travelling (one adult, one university student).

Thank you!

Actually, we don't need transport between Linz and Vienna because we'll be in Prague before Vienna.

Hi dreamon,

Between Innsbruck and Garmisch is the Werdenfels Ticket + Innsruck

https://bahnland-bayern.de/de/ticket...ket-werdenfels

If you don't read German, you can see the map of validity. One person is 27€, and additional people are 11€ each. It works like a pass for the entire day.

Have fun as you plan!

You should consider the Einfach-Raus Ticket if you want to save money.

It's basically a countrywide unlimited railpass for 1 day(from 9am on weekdays, but all day on weekends) valid on local and regional "slow trains".

It's 34€ for 2 so for only 17€/person you can travel as much as you wish all over Austria.

Thanks heaps swandav2000. It looks good. Unfortunately, I can't see how to buy the tickets from the website (I also looked at bahn.de) - must be blind. Also, can we buy it at Innsbruck station or need to buy online? btw. our German is non-existent, which will no doubt be a challenge.

Just saw your post, BDKR. That sounds great too.

Hi again,

When I buy it, I do a search for the route I want, then click on the button to purchase. On the next page, the fares are shown, and in tiny print will be "Werdenfels Ticket." I use the DB app.

I honestly don't know if it is offered by ticket machines in Innsbruck but would imagine so. Or at least from the staffed desks.

Have fun!

Thank you, swandav.

We'd like to stop enroute in Seefeld but will have luggage and not sure that there would be anywhere to stash it so might just keep going and return another day.

Yes, sorry, I don't know about luggage lockers in Seefeld. You could email the OEBB and ask -- or ask at the Innsbruck train station when you arrive there.

Have fun!
