Train Ticket Confusion/ Prague to Berlin

The bahn.de site tells me that if I want to stop in Dresden for the afternoon, I'll have to specify the times on and off the train and to get the best fare I will need to stick to those times.

Elsewhere I read that I should buy the ticket in Prague since the Czech fares are lower. But in Prague, will I be able to buy a ticket to Berlin and still just get off and on in Dresden? Or will it save 30 Euros if I book the discount fare through bahn.de with the time restricted?

Hi Tracy,

Go to www.euraide.com and get their US phone number.

Ask them.

I agree with calling Euraide. I wasn't aware that the Bahn site would even price out international journeys.

Suppose it would be much more expensive to buy a ticket Praha-Dresden and then Dresden-Berlin????

Once again, buy your ticket in Prague. The fare is much cheaper than with the Deutsche Bahn - at least for their regular prices - and still a bit cheaper than the special offers by the Deutsche Bahn. The big advantage is that there are no restrictions on which trains you can use - they are valid for two months.

It doesn't save you money if you book in advance through the Deutsche Bahn website, and you also have to struggle with their restrictions on specific trains.

Thank you all.

I just am not clear that I can purchase a ticket in Prague for Eurocity train number 370, then get off that train in Dresden ....and when I'm ready to go to Berlin just get on another Eurocity train later in the day, even if the 2nd train has a different number.
