Train stations in Avignon

Am travelling by train form Bern to Avignon.

Is there one station or two in Avignon? Is there a separate station in Avignon for the TGV versus regular trains, and if so are the two stations close to each other?

Thanks,

TBH

If I recall correctly, there is only one train station. Both the TGV and the regular trains stop there.

Supposedly as of last month (June) the train station that is just outside the city walls at Avignon will not be the destination or departure location for the TGV trains. There will be a new large TGV station about 10 minutes south of the city near the Durance river.
You might want to check the tgv website to see if all is on schedule

http://mercurio.iet.unipi.it/tgv/
tgvindex.html

If that is true about the new train station, that is great news! The train station at Avignon is probably the busiest, most crowded train station I've ever been in, with tons of lines everywhere.

The new one opened on June 10
""Is there one station or two in Avignon? Is there a separate station in Avignon for the TGV versus regular trains, and if so are the two stations close to each other? ""

The new TGV station opened on June 10th and is about 15 minutes south of Avignon center. All other trains will continue to use the train station just outside the city walls in Avignon. There are shuttle buses running between the two.

PB
