Train Station Palermo, Sicily

We will be taking a day trip to Palermo and arriving by train. Please tell me where the train station is located in Palermo. Since we will only have the day in Palermo, please also tell me the highlights of the city. Also, will we be able to walk to see these places or will we need to take some sort of public transportation to get around. Thank you.

I wonder why you are planning a day trip when you have no idea what there is to see there! You can either walk or take local buses to get around. I think you ought to read up a little about the city and then ask more detailed questions. One word of advice: Take care with your belongings.

Actually I have read up on the city but due to the short time we will be there we want to make sure we get some personal advice on what to see.

From the train station, take Via Roma to Via Vittorio Emanuele, then turn left to Quattro Canti at the corner of Via Maqueda.

From there, you can follow almost any itinerary.
