Train station in Milan
Will be arriving in Milan and immediately taking the train to Venice. Malpensa to train station is approx 50 minutes. I think I am supposed to take a shuttle bus to Cardono Nord Station to catch the train to Venice. Anybody know for sure or any advise welcome.
Thanks

I went from Venice to Milan (although not on the same day). I caught the IC train from Venice to Milan (Central) Train Station. From my hotel, near the Duomo, I caught the Metro to the Cardona Train Station and then caught the Malpensa Express to the Malpensa Airport.

You might want to check the TrenItalia website to see if trains go directly from Cardona to Venice.

CR's got it correct, just the reverse itinerary. The Malpensa Expess is the train that goes from the airport to the Cardorna Nord train station in approx 40 minutes time. However the IC train that you want to take to Venice departs from the Milan Centrale station, requiring that you take a taxi over to that station.

It is probably easier to take the Malpensa Shuttle which is a bus that goes directly from Malpensa to the Milan Centrale station in about 50 minutes time, depending upon traffic.

After you get off the Malpensa Express you will need to take the metro from the Cardono Station to get to the Milan train station. I believe it is the third stop, but I'm sure it says Milano Centrale or something similar. I can't remember how often the Malpensa Express runs - I think it just runs back and forth.

Hello Brody,

Take the BUS from Malpensa to Milan Central. Much more convenient than going via Cadorno Nord.

Steve

The central reference library of a city near you may have the Thomas Cook European Timetable. Table 3 says that busses leave Malpensa every 30 to 60 minutes and take an hour to Milan Central station. The web page for Malpensa airport in English, http://www.malpensa-airport.com/, says you buy tickets from the Thomas Cook exchange office, busses leave exit 6, bus stop 3, every twenty minutes from 0630 to 2350, and tickets used to cost 9800 lira. The trains run with a change at Gallarate, which is inconvenient. From Central station trains leave at 5 minutes past each hour and take three hours to Venice.

Welcome to Europe.

Ben Haines, London
