Train station help-Rome

Hi Friends,

I am making some of the more finite plans for our trip to Italy this summer, and I wondered if someone could help me figure out how to train to La Spezia from Rome, and which train station to use? We are staying in the Campo Di Fiore area of Rome, but want to take the quickest route to La Spezia as we can.

Thanks for the help!

Roma Termini is the main station.

This is the Trenitalia English version which you can use to see the varius options and timings:

This site is also VERY useful:

It would be best to learn how to do this on your own, so you can do what ifs any time you want.

1. goto http://www.trenitalia.com, click the Union Jack flag at top right to turn the page into mostly English.

2. Enter "Roma" in From (It will show you departures from both Roma Termini and Roma Tiburtina.)

3. Enter "La Spezia Centrale" in To.

4. Enter the same day of the week of NEXT WEEK. Why not summer? The schedule for summer is not out yet. You will get "No Travel Solution Found." The schedule does not change that much. Use the next week schedule for planning. As you get closer, the schedule will be loaded and you need to know how to do this again.

5. Enter the time and hit Search. No need to fill the return date. Single (one way) is the default setting.

You will see itineraries that does not require changes as well many that require changes. Focus on trains without changes if the departure time is acceptable. There are 9:57, 11:57, etc trains that do not require train changes to La Spezia Centrale.

Thank you so much for the tip about looking for next week! I booked our train tickets without issue following your directions exactly, but couldn't figure out why it wasn't letting me. My husband reminded me it was too far in advance. Thanks for all of your help!

You can also use www.italiarail.com which some people find a lot easier to use than the Trenitalia site.
