Train Seat Reservation ??
 

Hello All,

I have a problem about the train seat reservation in Poland.

Is it required to make a seat reservation first if I hold a Poland Railway pass ??

As I want to buy such pass becasue my family will visit Poland with 2 children.

I know the children are travel with free of charge if you have the Poland rail-pass.

No idea what a "Poland Railway Pass" is and on which trains it's valid (there are several rail companies in Poland) but seat reservations are compulsory on all EIP, IC and TLK trains operated by PKP Intercity (www.intercity.pl). I believe at least some of the interREGIO trains operated by Przewozy Regionalne (www.przewozyregionalne.pl) also require them. Normally seat reservations are sold together with the ticket and included in the price, regardless whether you buy online, at a ticket counter or ticket machine. You cannot buy seat reservations online, so that means you can only buy at the station.

All trains operated by PKP InterCity require seat reservations, and for traveling on an EIP train (Pendolino) with a pass, a supplement is also payable.

Przewozy Regionalne do not have any seat reservations.

You can arrange reservations in advance through Polrail Service.

Raileurope in USA sells a Poland Railpass - check with them to see which trains it is valid on - I think all mainline trains as Polrail mentions above - also check www.seat61.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com for Poland Railpass info - there is also a Germany and Poland Railpass.

When you buy your pass ask the seller about whether seat reservations are required - if so can usually be done at the same time you buy your pass - RailEurope-world would be one source I would think. Railpasses may be immune to the seat reservation required or may not - it should be stated in writing on the conditions of use if so.
