Train schedules
Would appreciate help in finding the appropriate web sites to check train schedules throughout France. Have read somewhere that if you reserve very early you can get deep discounts? Any tips for the novice train rider?

Our plan is Paris to Provence (Uzes) then car over to the Albi area and would like to drop car in that area and train back to CDG area for flight home.

Thanks

Hi,
I think you want http://www.sncf.com/indexe.htm.
Look for the J30 and J8 rates. They are not always available.
|
Ira is right on the money.
That is the official French rail system site. You can get prices there.
It is one of the few places that will give you a trans border fare cost if the train originates in France.
Does anyone know how to get the train info in English? The website someone suggested, sncf.com is the site, but it is in French.
|
Click on the British flag icon on the site and you'll get the English version - but be aware that the English version does not always have all the information , or all the bargains, that are available on the French site.

If you decide to book on line (you can't do this more than 2 months before your travel times, though), hanl has posted an excellent step-by-step guide through the French website.
