Train Sarlat - Libourne - CDG 2; Is this plan OK
 

I need to catch an evening flight from CDG on Saturday 16 September. Is the following plan do-able ? The subtext here is "Are French trains on time for me to make the Libourne TGV connection" ? or should I catch an earlier train to Libourne to make sure of catching the TGV to CDG 2 ?

Train from Sarlat to Libourne 12:01 – 14:20 (there is an earlier train to Libourne, but there is only 1 TGV going to CDG 2 this afternoon)
Catch TGV from Libourne to CDG 2 14:46 – 18:36

The timetable appears do-able.

I have not yet booked, but it is most likely to be either Emirates departing 21:50 or JAL departing 23:25.

I just need to feel happy that TGV travel is most likely to be on time. Can you advise if a 26 minute platform change at Libourne is reasonable. OR are the Ter trains from Sarlat reknown for being irregular or late.

Maybe those of you are familiar with these connections can advise.

You should be able to make your connection in Libourne.

I wouldn't expect the Sarlat/Libourne train to be more than 10 min late.

Libourne is a very small station.

I think that you will come in on track 2 and leave on track 1.

TGV's are more often than NOT on time.

Local trains are more often late than the high speed ones ... but there are NO guaratees.

BUT - you should make it.

Connections are always one of the main dilemmas in travel planning.

Once again, for all those people who think that the TGV is the only train in France - if you are in Sarlat, you can get a bus to the train station in Souillac. It's designed to connect with the Paris train. You then take the train directly up to Paris. YOu will need to get from Gare d'austerlitz to CDG but that's not difficult on RER, or by taxi. Check SNCF site www.voyages-sncf.com giving Souillac as your departure - there is a train at 7.16 that gets into Paris at 11.44, another leaving at 9 that arrives at 13.35.
