Train Routing
Travelling on a Eurail train pass. Has anyone taken a train from St. Moritz to Varenna Italy and if so has anyone done so without going through Milano
|
Check bahn.de to see if it is possible. It has the train routes for all of europe.
|
Bahn.de never shows Varenna-Esino. Use the Swiss web site.
Do you want to know if anyone who posts here has done it or if it's possible to do? http://www.sbb.ch/en/home.html |

What type of pass? |
If you haven't purchased the pass yet, post your itinerary as point-to-point tickets are often cheaper or in Switzerland, one of the various Swiss passes is more economical.
|
Yes, and it isn't hard to figure out: you take the Bernina (Express) route from St. Moritz with a change in Tirano.
|
There are 2 itineraries from St. Moritz to Varenna:
either all by train via Bernina - Tirano - Colico - Sondrio or by bus to Chiavenna, then train via Colico. None of them goes through Milan. |
