train reservations by internet

Dear MorganB
Your info is above and beyond. THANK YOU! Today I got through all of the steps of ordering 4 tickets from paris to Hendaye on August 11. But the site, and also Thalys, says that my bank will not honor the payment to my credit card. I tried all my cards. I called my bank. There is no sign of any attempts to post. The bank says there aren't any problems on their side. Is anyone else having this problem? Do you know which hours on which days the phone number for the Enlish SNCF is available? HAve people had luck making reservations and buying tickets by phone at that number 011 33 8 92 35 35 39?

Hi Cowgirls!

Glad you found the info helpful. Perhaps the payment system is currently down and causing a false response? I have had problems in the past with foreign credit cards not working here in France on rare occassion. There must be a network that connects the system that can go down. Also, they tend to do maintenace on payment networks and websites in the off hours. I would suggest giving a try tomorrow as it is in the late PM here.

Well, merci!
Somewhere I read but have now lost it the hours that the SNFC phones are in use. Do you know if they answer them on Saturdays?
And thanks again, I never expected to hear from you so FAST.

Hi again. It was just by chance that I am stalking the Fordors forums tonight :) . The phone lines are open from 7 am to 10 pm 7 days a week.

Well, I am most grateful you were sussing out this forum. I'd wondered whether I had to wait till MOnday which is getting awfully close to when we leave.
I'll try again tomorrow Saturday.
Many thanks. I see you all over the posts--air conditioning, etc.
Do you cool off at the Paris plage? Are there sprinklers there?
Thanks again.

I actually havent been to Paris Plage but yes there are sprinklers there. We currently have a much welcomed break from the heat. Hope that stays in place for your visit! Forcasts show high in the 70s and lows in the 60s/50s for the next 15 days but they are rarely accurate that far out.
