Train Reservations
I am trying to book a train from Chiusi to Rome on October 13th (A Saturday) and the Trenitalia site shows nothing available that entire date until the next day. What are my chances of showing up at the train station and getting a seat??
|
I see lots of trains available for that day on trenitalia.com for the IC trains.
And there are plenty of R trains that don't have reserved seats. Slower but you don't have to buy in advance. |
When I put Chiusi to Rome on the 13th, it listed the trains and times - but in the area of the basket to order it said "no"
|
The "R" trains say "No" because you can't buy those tickets in advance. No point to do so.
The IC and ICPlus trains allow me to buy in advance, choose seat preference, etc. |
Thanks for the info. I went back to the site and saw the R schedule. All of the of the IC Plus trains however said "no" in the order box. I originally was going to drive my rented car to Rome, but the Fodor experts suggested I drop the car off in Chiusi and take the train in.

I don't understand. Oct 13, 2007. Chiusi to Rome. Here are the trains on trenitalia.com that show the shopping baskets:
6:45a EN287 (to Tiburtina) 7:10a IC579 7:29a EN235 9:32a ICPlus 577 11:35a IC585 1:35p ICPlus 703 3:35p ICPlus 591 5:35p IC705 7:35p IC595 9:45p IC709 For example, if I pick the 3:35 ICPlus 591, it gives me 2nd class AMICA price of 12.20€, including mandatory reservations. I can go choose seat preference and bring me to the log on screen. |
Thanks for your persistence - I feel like a total fool. Apparently I had the month as 9 instead of 10. Appreciate your help!!!
