Train reservations

What is the best way to go about making arrangements for train travel between Germany & Swizerland? Seems like there is a variety of choices!?!? Is it necessary to make reservations for Sept or can it be done on the day of travel? Phone, website, company, etc?
Merci, danke, grazie, domo, spacibo, etc.

Probably the commonest and simplest (also cheapest?) is to go to the train station - - 2-48 hours in advance. Other "better" options often mentioned here are American Express offices (in Europe? cheaper?), euraide.de and BETS

Best wishes,

Rex

Euraide.com has it's main office at the Munich train depot, and they really understand train travel in that country and Europe. They charge face value on the tickets, plus a shipping & handling fee. If you're a worry-wart like me, you'll like having the tickets in hand before leaving the states (or wherever). They also have a toll-free phone number so you can talk to a live person! A luxury in today's world...

Unless you are taking an overnight train, or taking a heavily used line (e.g., Cisalpino), I wouldn't make a reservation for September. If peace of mind is important, however, I'd do as Rex suggests and purchase your tickets in advance once there.

A tardy but none-the-less sincere "danke" for the info and suggestions.
