Train prices in Italy

We are thinking of taking the train from Rome to Venice. Can someone give me an idea of the cost for this trip?
Thank you

May I suggest that you look it up yourself:

www.trenitalia.com

Click on "English" in the upper left-hand corner.

If you book on line 60 days before your travel date, you may be able to obtain a 29 Euro or 39 Euro promotional rate in either first or second class.

Eloise, Thank you for your reply. I did in fact go to the trenitalia web site and although I could figure out the schedules I couldn't seem to find out prices. I appreciate your help.

Prices are only given if the ticket can be bought (i.e., at most 60 days before travel date). So put in a date that is within 60 days.

When the various suggestions come up, click on one of the numbers at the beginning (1., 2., etc.), Then click on "Buy". It will show the "Intera" (or "entire; no promotion) price for first and second class.

For Rome to Venice, try to choose a Eurostar (fast) train from Roma Termini to Venezia Santa Lucia. If the train only goes to Venexzia Mestre, you have to change trains to cross the causway to Venice itself.

It will cost you 67 Euros for first class and 45 for second class. We always opt for second class.

My wife and I travelled through Italy last Fall and took several trains. First class was nice but I can't say it was really worth it - free coffee and maybe (I stress maybe) more room.

Hi 1jan1, I agree with Michael, second class is fine for travelling by train in Italy. That is what all my friends in Italy do and it sure works for me.
Enjoy!!
