Train passes: Switzerland, Austria, Prague: confused
In July my wife and I wish to travel by train from Prague to Vienna, 3 days, then from Vienna to Bad Aussee in Austria,7 days, then from there to Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland, 4 days with various short trips up to Jungfrau, etc, then to Lucern 2 days, and then to Zurich, 1 day. Which pass should we buy? And where do we buy it? I have briefly looked at the Swiss Pass, the Half? pass, the Eurail select pass; Saver pass; etc, etc. Would be grateful is someone could help.

It can be complex.
Let me be the first to recommend you check www.raileurope.com. On the main page is a link to their 'tool' for selecting the appropriate rail pass. You simply enter your itinerary (much as you have here), and it bubbles up the appropriate pass, or combination of passes, for your unique needs. It's pretty slick -- I used it last year, and it was exactly correct. Fritzrl |
Fritzrl, I went to the site but could only get www.europerail.com/US/. I am sorry to say I could not find the link to their "tool' for selecting the rail pass. Perhaps your screen is different?. Under what head is the link? Sorry. Jim.

The site to compare a pass vs. point to point is www.railsaver.com .

Quite right -- apologies for the misleading reference. It was, indeed, the railsaver site I'd used.

You may want to try www.bootsnall.com. They have an excellent section related to travel within Europe. The following link will also help you to pick the right railpass for travel within Europe:
