Train or Plane? Krakow to Gdansk

We need your help! What is the best way to get from Krakow to Gdansk?

Thanks,
Sunny

Have a look at www.lot.com for flights. Prices range from €70 upwards.
The train takes about 8 hours. I don't what it costs though. http://www.polrail.com/ should tell you.

I've been researching this too. From the LOT site, I conclude that there are no direct flights between Krakow and Gdansk -- everything involves a change of planes in Warsaw.

For the dates I've been looking at, the shortest travel time by air seems to be 3:10, including a 1:15 time to change planes in Warsaw. That feels tight to me; I like to allow for late flights & my own confusion. The next shortest total time is 4:45. Prices in dollars appear to range from about $100 to about $160.

Hi; Use www.kayak.com/ and I think you will find a non-stop from Krakow to Gdansk. Takes 1 1/2 hours. I looked at these two dates, not knowing your dates. Aug. 4th $129---Aug. 18th $129. one way. RT using those two dates, it was $249. It's on Jet Air. Dick

Even with a stopover in Warsaw it has to be better than 8 hours on a train. 75 minutes seems like plenty of time for a connecting flight, with the same airline. If it wasn't legal they wouldn't offer it.

Wow, thanks, iris1745 -- didn't occur to me that there would be a carrier offering better service inside Poland than LOT. I don't know anything about JetAir Poland or Wegolo.com (the website through which JetAir seems to book), but will investigate.

Hetismij, yes, I agree generally about flying v. train. As for whether 75 min is a long-enough connecting time, it's a matter of personal preference. As I said, I like to allow for lateness & confusion.

I will also look into the flight choices. We found a train leaving around midnight and arrival to Gdansk at 1pm. The bonus is a sleeper car and saving on the hotel for a night.

Thank you so very much,
Sunny

has anyone driven to gdansk?

sunswhtdog Jun 23rd, 2009 08:15 PM

I tried the jet air site..for my computer it was very slow and I could not access the region choice but, they responded quickly with my concerns and I will try again. Our direct flight from London to Krakow on British air was cancelled today.. :o(
Has anyone flown ez air? out of London to Poland?

Hi; WWW.EASYJET.COM/ flys non-stop from London to Krakow. WWW.WIZZAIR.COM/ flys non-stop from Gdansk to a London airport. Use www.kayak.com/ for a review. Dick

we have our tickets for noon out of Luton airport north of London, on Easy Jet direct. We arrive at 3:25. I estimated the cost to be around $105US per person. That is if we stick to the baggage and weight restrictions!

We are flying on LOT to Gdansk, but it stops over in Warsaw.

thanks for the input!
