The E4 is a long boring road but the train which is what the OP was asking about takes a different route to the road, gets quite close to lakes etc, more scenic IMO. The countryside is pretty and that's what Sweden is all about, nature, forests, lakes - outside of main cities of Stockholm and Gothenburg there really isn't much except big empty spaces. I would suggest a stop at Vadstena for anyone undertaking that journey, better still, fly.

Danes don't appreciate their Snaps being called Schnapps.

Thank you all for the advice. I’ve checked timing on Www.rometorio.com and it’s a couple of hours less if I fly. I plan to travel carry on only so that might actually be the most efficient.

Planes can be late but trains ususally are not on main lines like that.
