Train or cab to Paris hotel? (or other?)
 

This will be our first trip to Paris. Our hotel is Hotel La Bourdonnais, 111 Avenue La Bourdonnais, Paris, 75007.

I think a cab would be about 50-60 Euro (is this correct?). Is a cab the best option, or would it be better to take the train? If the train, please give details, because I'm not sure how to do this. There will be 3 people (me, husband, 17-year-old son).

Or would a private driver or other mode of transportation be preferable?

by "best option", do you mean easiest? quickest? cheapest?

I'd suggest easiest - taxi since you sound like you are not familiar with the trains. Go to the official taxi stand at the airport - follow the signs and you'll find it. Do not get into a cab anywhere else at the airport. The cab fare sounds about right. For 3 people, it is probably less expensive than a shuttle.

Have the name and address of your hotel written on a piece of paper and hand it to the taxi driver. I printed the location info from the hotel's website to make it easier because there are usually cross streets on that page.

If you have more than one piece of luggage for each person it's hard to carry on the train so that should be a consideration. I'm sure once you get off the train you will need to transfer to the metro so you will need to figure that out.

Rossey bus is also a easy way into the city.

I would take a cab but another simple option is by private transfer where the driver meets you with a sign. I prefer this over the shuttle services that you call when you arrive. By private transfer there is less confusion and he only takes your party, no others, its only slightly more than a cab.

If big luggage isn't an issue, I would go my favorite way: RER B (train) to Luxembourg, then city bus N° 82 to École Militaire. Your hotel is a half block from the bus stop.

Robespierre, do you know how much it would cost to go on the train and bus? I don't think it would be worth it unless it is REALLY cheap.

I used beeshuttle.com, and was very happy, I know some have not been, but I don't think that they used the private transfer service. We used the private transfer both ways and they showed up on time each time.

The train is &euro;8,10, and the bus is &euro;1,09 if you buy a <i>carnet</i> of ten <i>tickets 't'</i>. Single tickets are &euro;1.40. But if you buy a daily or weekly pass, the bus ride is essentially free.

For 3 people, take a cab!
Sure you save some money be taking the RER, but with transfers and luggage - not worth it.
It is your first visit - enjoy!
