Train or Bus to Florence from Siena?
We are staying outside of Siena, so we will have to take a taxi to either station. I can't figure out the SITA site (it's not in English), but have the Trenitalia info.
How often does the SITA bus run between the 2 cities, what's the cost and approx. travel time?
I was just wondering what others thought.
Thanks!

Buses run at least hourly from Siena (piazza Gramsci) to Florence. I believe the journey time is between an hour and 90 minutes , depending on traffic.
Most train journeys would need a change at Empoli.

When I looked on Trenitalia, there is a direct train to Florence-- no stops. 10Euro p/p. The journey time is 1:10.
There is also the local train, that makes 9-10 stops for 5.70 Euro p/p. Journey time- 1:43

As I understand it, the benefit of taking the bus is that it drops you in central Siena (on top of the hill). The train station is outside Siena (down the hill). Since you're staying outside town, the train might be better.

suestein,
The bus from Siena to Florence is faster see http://www.mega.it/ita/not/sita.htm
The train goes through Empoli. The option that shows a Euro star Link is a bus.

Hi,
We are considering a day trip from Florence to Siena. The travel guide suggests taking the bus and the website is only in Italian as previously mentioned.
