Hi smithp7,

You may want to tell folks that you know about the www.gare-routiere.com site and just can't get it to work for this journey, and that you know about the cg74 site that neckervd gave you. That will help prevent some folks spending their time giving you information that you already have.

Hope you get an answer to solve the problem!

s

(ps, I remain convinced that you'll be fine buying your tickets once you're in Annecy)

Hi Swandav2000, The cg74 site was in French so I couldn't understand it and the www.gare-routiere.com doesn't have trips from Annecy to Lausanne. I reached out to different tourist sites and still not having any luck. I'm just not comfortable waiting to see if there is a train or bus available the day I need to leave in the busy summer season. Just wondering if anyone else has any suggestions. I also read through a lot of forums today trying to get answers and I've noticed other people with a similar problem getting from Annecy to Lausanne. I'm totally at a loss on what to do! Sorry for the repetition! Pat

You can book the train tickets using the sbb.ch/en (Swiss Rail) site.

You'll be routed through Geneva and then on to Lausanne amongst other stops/changes

It is a cumbersome route by rail - 3 changes including a bus and then taking the tram between Geneva stations -

anyway you can leave Annecy just about any hour at :32 after and in 3 h 11 minutes you'll be in Cully if all changes go well.

Annecy to La Roche sur Foron - regional train

change to bus to Geneva Eaux-Vives train station

then you have to take the tram across Geneva to the main Geneva station - Cornavin and then take trains via Lausanne to Cully.

Man that bus is looking pretty good - the direct one.

For info on trains in general check these sites: www.seat61.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com. If traveling much in Switzerland by train check out a Swiss Pass which with a relatively short stay may be cost effective depending on what you do of course - www.swisstravelsystem.com for lots of info on Swiss trains.

There is no need to book that cumbersome train connection in advance- none of those trains I believe require reservations and you can IME always get on these type of trains - just buy the tickt in Annecy if you can thru to Cully if not buy as you go along.

Hi again,

Yes, I know the troubles you're having with the gare-routiere site -- remember I posted that I also couldn't get to the ticket with a departure from Annecy and destination at Geneva.

I guarantee the gare routiere bus will be available, and I'm pretty certain you'll be fine booking tickets just one or two days in advance. They run pretty much every couple of hours, so there are plenty of opportunities.

I gave you the email for the gare-routiere office, and I'm absolutely certain that someone there will speak English. If you emailed them and asked about getting tickets through email or how difficult it will be to buy just one or two days in advance, it would give you great peace of mind.

Hope you get it worked out!

a train/bus/tram combo ticket on www.sbb.ch Annecy to Cully would cost at full fare 49 Swiss francs - and there are some connections not involving a tram transfer in Geneva - most do but a few are all by train.

Yes getting to Geneva is the hassle once there it is clear sailing by probably two trains an hour to Lausanne and onto Cully - curious as to what is in Cully - friends, family?

Hi Palenq, I'm trying to stay close to Geneva Airport and Lyon airport because my daughter and I have flights out of both and mine is in the am. I heard the area around Lake Geneva is beautiful and I'm looking forward to vineyards ,hiking and walking along the water and just spending time with my daughter who will have just graduated from college. Swandav2000 was also very helpful in helping me to figure things out in the area. Can't wait to see everything, the pictures of the area look amazing! Thanks again, Pat
