Train or Bus btwn Nice and Cannes
 

Which option do people recommend for traveling from the Nice airport to Cannes? 200 bus or taking the bus to the Nice train station and then train to Cannes? The bus seems easier than making a transfer to the train station. We'll have large bags with us and a young child with stroller.

However, I've heard the 200 bus from the Nice Airport to Cannes is not a nice trip and we could get caught in traffic. Is there space to store bags under the bus (like a coach bus) or is it more like a city bus? Is the train worth having to go into Nice? Cost is not that much of a factor depending on convenience.

When are you travelling? I have no experience with the bus to Nice Airport, but can tell you that in July/August roads can get extremely congested in that area. If you are travelling in summer, I would opt for the least amount of time on the road - ie train to Nice. Just as an example, it has taken me an hour to drive from Antibes to Villeneuve-Loubet. An hour and a half from Cannes to Villeneuve-Loubet. The airport is a bit further than that.

For the summer (and even other times of the year), the train is superior to get from Nice to Cannes, for the traffic reasons cited by Tulips. Besides the traffic, the bus makes many, many stops. And 200 is a local bus, not a dedicated airport shuttle with large luggage racks like the 99 (to the main Gare/station) into Nice. You can also pick up the train from the San Augustin station. It technically is walkable but you'll have a lot of stuff to manage, it sounds like (and in general, construction has made things more painful). The simplest of all is a pre-booked transfer (80E car to 100E van, flat rate ) or Uber.

Taxi would be by far the easiest, since you have a child in a stroller and luggage. They would know how much time to allow to get there on time.

Well buses from airport to Nice can get stuck in same traffic I would think and it's several miles there. See if shuttle buses run from airport to the train station just outside airport - seems like taxis would also get snarled in traffic if buses do. No easy way - too bad there are no shuttle ferries. Even with traffic I'd take the direct bus to Cannes from airport as again buses can get snarled in traffic going to Nice too.

Oh yes, there is an airport express bus, 210, I completely forgot with this talk of line 200. It's 22E one way, 33E return per adult. It's much faster than the local bus, but runs a bit less frequently. For two adults and one child, the cost of an Uber starts getting pretty comparable unless you buy the return up front. I generally don't recommend taxis from Nice -- they have an unfortunate reputation locally. (We have a place in Nice).

The local bus 200 is just 1.50E but it has so many stops -- that's the worse part of it -- 90 minutes just for normal traffic -- and goes through the worst of the traffic outside of Antibes. I've had the misfortune of being on that for a while. The express should be better, but I can not vouch for that one personally (98/99 to Nice are simpler).
