Train Nice to Avignon October 2010
Could someome please provide
-The time of this rail trip, how long? -Frequency of daily trains, we will travel on a Tuesday -Can I purchase tickets through TGV Thanks. Anthony |
You can do this yourself easily.
www.voyage-sncf.com Enter: Nice Ville, Avignon TGV If your book your trip far ahead, you can get a discounted PREM fare AND be able to print the ticket on your computer NOW. If you wait too long and the PREM fares are sold out, you can BUY a ticket online, but you CANNOT print it. You have to retrieve it in France. Choices 1) SNCF boutique on 2 rue de la Liberté (recommended) 2) Nice station (not recommended, crowded) 3) other less crowded SNCF station. If you go to other sites and enter "US" as a country of origin, you get redirected to a Raileurope site. Their ticket prices are usually higher than buying direct from SNCF. Since your trip is SO FAR away, you can only get an idea of the schedule and the fares by entering 3/25 so see the PREM prices. Enter 1/28 to see what happens if wait too long. |
oops, I started the response before realizing the Oct 2010 time frame. So you cannot buy or print PREM tickets until ~90 days before you travel date...

The URL Greg gave is missing an "s". The full URL is www.voyages-sncf.com. Go ahead and book on that site if you can handle French.
If you want to book in English, go to www.tgv-europe.com which is a multi-language SNCF site. To keep the site in English and to avoid being bumped to the Rail Europe site which doesn't offer discount fares (like Prem's), choose Great Britain as your country of residence. You can book a full three months in advance (e.g., today I would be able to book as far ahead as 27 April). If you choose Avignon (all stations) as your arrival point, you will be shown fares for both Nice-Avignon TGV and Nice- Avignon Centre. You will arrive at Avignon TGV and will need to take a bus provided by SNCF from there to Avignon Centre. For certain times of the day you may also see this route: Nice-Marseille-Avignon Centre. |
Greg and Tim thanks so much.
One more question:How long would a trip from Nice to Avignon TGV station take. Best wishes. Anthony |
Anthony,
Rather than answering that question directly, I'm going to encourage you to look it up yourself. By doing so you'll get familiar with the tgv-europe site. Enter any date within the next three months and any departure time you wish. If you have trouble, post another note on this thread and I'll happily give you as much information as you need. Tim |
