Train information.
Hello Everyone,
I'm going to be flying into Frankfort, Germany (FRA) on 08/08 and meeting up with my party on 08/11 in Rome, Italy. I'm looking for advice on how to spend my free days. I'm looking at staying in Switzerland. I would like to take the train, but I can't figure out the train schedule for the BAHN. Can someone explain how the Bahn works? Thank you. |
Did you try http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml ??
Try and come back with specific questions, I do not know what is not clear here. |

here is a sample i just did change the towns in the boxes and date for any train schedules in Europe. |
No you do not need a railpass.
I just wanted to SAY that before ANYONE ELSE here does...whether or not that is actually true is totally irrrelevant as all those other people who are already saying it know. |
Hi lbhagen,
I've always found the Swiss rail site to be a lot easier to use -- you can go directly to the English-language site at www.rail.ch You can get the schedules for all the trains throughout Europe at that site. I'll just let you know that this is a very, very long train ride, about 12 hours. You may want to see if you can do any of it at night. For your Swiss destination, you may want to go to the town of Brig, which is right on the route from Switzerland to Milan. Brig is a lovely town with a castle and a sweet old town, and it's surrounded by mountains. You can ascend to a mountain village like Bettmeralp and/or Riederalp to get immersed in mountain culture. Have fun! s |
