Train Help!!

Hello, I am using trenitalia website to try to sort out trains but am not able to do so. Am I using the wrong website for travel from Pisa to Cinque Terre? I am in putting Pisa to Vernazza and getting no response. I also need to train from cinque terre (or la spezia if it is in walking distance?) to Florence and then Florence back to pisa (PSA Airport).

You didn't say what was happening. What dates are you using. If more than 3 months or so out then the schedules may not be available. If you need schedules use the same day of the week next week or next month. For just schedule info go to bahn.de

Try www.lefrecce.it

When I enter those towns I find the train tickets.
La Spezia isn't walking distance from Riomaggiore the closest C.Terre town, you need at least a couple of hours hike.

You do not want to buy these tickets online. These towns are served by the slow R trains that don't have any reserved seating or discounts. Tickets for R trains bought online have more restrictions than R tickets bought at the station. Wait until you are in Italy to buy. If you want to see prices/schedules, enter a date within the next 7 days, but not on the Le Feccce link as it's just for fast trains.

Enter your cities and a date within the next 7 days on this link.
http://www.trenitalia.com/homepage.html

Not quite sure which city you plan to use for your departure back to Florence (Vernazza is CT), but you will have to make a couple of train changes.

When I go to www.trenitalia.com, enter Pisa Aeroporto, Vernazza, April 24, 8am, I get 9:03, 10:18, 11:18, 12:18, etc. departures.

What are you entering and what are you getting?

When you arrive from Cinque Terre into Florence (you don't say if your staying for a few days) or going straight on to Pisa airport i aways buy my train ticket the day before i travel on the trains that way you know you have it. I spent a lot of time in Italy mainly Florence every year . Don't forget to validate your train ticket in the yellow boxes before you get on the train have seen many a person nearly thrown off at the next town

Thank you all so much. I am sorry I left out details. We are flying in from Germany to Pisa on Ryan air and I am really nervous about all of this. Here is the schedule...
Monday May 21st we arrive at Pisa Airport and will need a train to Vernazza Cinque Terre.(around noon-2 pm, any idea how long this trip takes by train?)
Wed May 23rd we will need a train from Vernazza CT to Florence. (around 11am and again, any idea how long of a trip this is?)
Fri May 25th we will need a train to Pisa from Florence. (around 11 am again, any idea how long this trip is by train?)
Any help is appreciated.

hunchie352,

kybourbon gave you instructions on how to get the timetables you need. You should learn how to use the Trenitalia site, but I'll answer your questions anyway.

Pisa Aeroporto-Vernazza: Leave the airport station at 12:15, connect at Pisa Centrale and La Spezia Centrale, and arrive at Vernazza at 14:28. Or leave at 14:18, make the same connections, and arrive at 16:16. This route is all on regional trains and the fare is €7.00. You also can leave at 13:18 and connect in Pisa Centrale and Monterosso, arriving at 15:26. However, you'll pay more because the Pisa Centrale-Monterosso leg is on an IC train.

Pisa-Florence: Regional trains depart at 10:32, 10:54, 11:11, 11:32, and 11:54. The ride takes a little over one hour and the fare is €7.10.

thank you tims but you left out the train from cinque terre to florence :) this is all coming up on train italia when you put pisa to vernazza and florence to pisa? maybe i am selecting the wrong things.. i will try again and thank you so much. it has turned into a lot of travel and i want to make sure we are getting adequate time to enjoying being in these destinations! does anyone have any suggestions for the pisa airport area? i would love to explore a bit or at least have lunch there!!

kybourbon Apr 26th, 2012 08:26 PM

Pisa airport is only 5 minutes by train the Pisa Centrale. No reason to stay at the airport when the center is that close.

You might need to enter the Italian spelling for Florence (Firenze). Since they loaded summer schedules a few weeks ago, it seems the website expects Italian spelling even on some of the English page links. I hope you aren't entering Cinque Terre at that's an area, not a town/station.

Oops! I gave you the departure times for Pisa-Florence rather than Florence-Pisa. The departure times you need are 10:28, 11:00, 11:28, 11:38, and 11:53.

Now for Vernazza-Florence (which I did indeed forget).

1. Depart at 10:32, connect in Monterosso and Pisa, and arrive in Florence at 14:00.

2. Depart at 11:05, connect in La Spezia and Pisa, and arrive in Florence at 14:32.

#1 includes a leg on an IC train and the fare is €19.40. #2 is all on regional trains and the fare is €11.10.

You guys are great, I figured out the problem. I am entering Pisa to Vernazza, Vernazza to Firenze and then Firenze to Pisa BUT! The dates were not available. It just kept saying you can not view anything 7 days out or more. So I thank you so much. Do you guys know much about the pisa aeroporto? is there much by foot to see from there? I believe we may head into Pisa centrale and have a look around pisa for the afternoon before we depart!

ellenem Apr 27th, 2012 02:31 PM

There is no reason to remain in the area of Pisa Airport one you have arrived. Go to Pisa.

ellenem Apr 27th, 2012 02:43 PM

onCe you have arrived . .

hunchie352 Apr 27th, 2012 06:50 PM

well yes, i am meaning once we arrive at Pisa centrale, any suggestions. we will have a few hours on foot before we catch a train to the airport!
