Train from Stresa to Milan

We are contemplating taking the train into Milan from Stresa for "day trip".
Does anyone know whether the train station is in the center of the city, near things we might want to see ( or an area we might want to shop in ) ?

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to supply!

The trip from Stresa to Milan Central will take about an hour on the fast (expensive) train - but there don't seem to be that many trains per day - so you will hae to plan carefully (the slower train can take 2 to 2.5 hours).

Milan has more than one train station - so look for the one closest to what you want to see (probably Centro).

Most of the trains are from Milano Centrale or Milano Porta Garibaldi, and the tinme is 1 h till 1 1/2 hours.
The train station in Stresa is 5 min. walk to the lake. From the lake take the boat to Isola Bella, or, if you arrive early, take a ticket to all Isola Bella, villa Taranto, Isola Madre and isola Pescadore and visit all of them. It will be a magical day!
Near the lake there are also pedestrian streets with shops (if you will have time !).

I suspect the Op is asking about the location of the station in Milan. Centrale is within walking distance of a few things but you are probably better off taking the Milan Metro from there which is easily done.
