Train from Rome to Civitivecchia

I've heard there is a train to take cruise passengers from Rome to the port at Civitivecchia.

Has anyone used this train from Rome to the port?
Is there a website with information?

Limos and taxis from Rome to Civitivecchia are very expensive, so I was wondering if the train would be a good alternative.

Thanks.

There is a service called the "Roma Express" which consists of a special consist of passenger cars which goes into the port facility itself. This service is often used by cruise ships that are stopping off in Civitavecchia for excursion transfers to and from Rome. I do not know who runs the service.

The more regular rail service run by Trenitalia (the Italian State Railways) takes about 1 hour from Rome. The Civitavecchia RR station is about a ten minute or so walk from the entrance to the port facilitiy; ships are usually docked further on.

There are usually taxis waiting at the RR station which can transfer you and your luggage.

Did you ever find the "Roma Express" email address? I located it once weeks ago and can't seem to find itnow.

The FR-5 Regional train runs between Civitavecchia and Rome Termini. Takes about 1 hr 15 min and costs about 4-5 euros each way. You can check schedules on the Trenitalia website www.trenitalia.it
