Train from Paris to Marseille
 

I have a ticket on the TGV from Paris to Marseille, but I really need to go to Aix. I know the train makes stops along the way, and I would like to know if it stops in Aix, but I can't seem to find a site that tells me which rail stations I will stop in. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I think you might find some help at www.raileurope.com. I have found it to be most helpful for train travel in Europe. There is also a TGV website (www.tgv.com) that should tell you everything you need to know. If you don't read French, you can convert it to English at the upper right corner of the home page. Last resort: call. Have a great time - I love France!

Why did you buy a ticket to Marseille if you don't want to go there ? One of the great advantages of the European rail networks is that there are thousands of stations serving so many places; I was recently in Corsica and amongst the stops on the rail network are Tennis Club and Golf Club. It's always worth studying a map to find the nearest railway station. The easiest way to check European train schedules is on www.bahn.de; the SNCF's web site will give fares as well, but it's much slower.

I second the German site for train schedules. RailEurope only gives you SOME routes and trains, I don't find it very useful. Plus, the prices listed on RailEurope are misleading-they include a hefty fee.

I bought a ticket to Marseille because I thought my meeting was closer to there than to Aix. I was in Tuscany when my secretary booked the train ticket, and only found out on my return to the US that I had to be closer to Aix. I travel so much, I don't always have time to check the details, but this site is pretty useful for helping me out in a pinch.

I just looked at the german site and it really depends on which train you take. Some will stop in Aix, some not, but there are a whole lot of TGV's to chose from on the Paris to Marseille route, so you should be able to chose one that will let you off in Aix. Did the secretary also book a reservation or just buy a ticket? You may need a new reservation if the particular train she booked you on doesn't stop in Aix.
