Train from Nice to Genoa? Tickets?

We are planning to travel by train from Nice to Genoa on September 22. Is it necessary to purchase tickets before we go, or can we buy them on the day at the station? Do we require reservations?

Some trains between these two cities require reservations and others do not. If you will be in France a few days before September 22, I suggest that you get the tickets, with reservations if necessary, at the nearest rail station.

Hi Oboe - Be aware that - if your timing requires a change of train at Ventimiglia - you have to RE-VALIDATE your ticket at Ventimiglia station.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Steve James, you are a treasure on this board. Always amazed at how much you know about so much and how many little details.

Hi O,

The direct trains (eg, 10:05 require reservations).

Why not buy your tickets online and have them mailed to you c/o your hotel?
