Train from Munich to Venice
We are planning on taking the overnight train from Munich to Venice, but I'm wondering if we are making a mistake by not going during the day for the scenery. We will have taken the train from Zurich to Garmisch, so will have seen some of the Alps. Any opinions? Thanks for your help

Pretty darn scenic, follows the Alps much of the way. Wouldn't you be going through Salzburg?

Have you looked at flights---may be cheaper and much faster.

It is very nice mountainous scenery, but to save time, I have also booked the overnight train a couple of times. I book the single private room and I sleep overnight with no problem, but many others cannot sleep on a train. You might check for cheap flights on www.whichbudget.com

Hi Aussiemaid,
Which route are you taking from Zürich to Garmisch? The route via Innsbruck is more scenic (imo) than the route via München because it goes through the very beautiful Tyrolian Alps. Have fun! s |
I assume you would be traveling by day from Munich through Innsbruck and over the Brenner Pass with a change in Verona or are you finding a timing with a direct/ no changes route?
The former route is scenic IN the Dolomites for sure and down as far as Trento...but I would also check out cheap flights on whichbudget.com |
Thank you all so much. Great information.
