Train from Milan to Rome
Hello.
WE are flying into Milan and planning to take the train into Rome that same day to begin our Italy journey. Is this feasible? How long is the trip?
|
The train trip is about 5 hours. Depending where you are traveling from and what time you arrive in Milan, you might want to consider staying one night in Milan. Consider jetlag too. Plenty of things to do in one day, Duomo, Last Supper, Galleria, Castelo Sforzesco (sp), people watch in one of the most fashionable cities of the world, etc.
|
4.5 to be exact. Leaves hourly most of the day. So,etimes works okay with jet lag - - good little nap on the train.

See www.trenitalia.com

Best wishes,

Rex
Very feasible. And if you are arriving in Milan early and will be jetlagged, then you might as well spend that day continuing on your journey to Rome. The Eurostar train does take 4 1/2 hours to get to Rome; however, you also have to factor in the time that it'll take you to get from Malpensa Airport into city center, Milano Centrale station. Shuttle buses are the most cost efficient way to get from MXP to main train station in Milan; travel time = 50 minutes.

Guestimating the time for you to pick up luggage, go thru customs, catch the next shuttle, get the train to Rome --- in toto, it'll be about 6.5 hours.
