Train from London to Rome - Cost and Duration?

Hi there,
First post...yippeee

My fiance and I are planning a visit from Australia to Italy in October 06.

We are considering purchasing an open jaw ticket to fly to London and return from Rome.

We plan to take the train from London to Paris (can anyone advise me how long this takes and approximate cost p.p?)

Also I'm seeking a rough guide as to the cost and duration of taking a train from Paris to Milan. We would look at getting a sleeper.

From there we will explore Italy and make our way to Rome to depart.

Thanks in advance

Ugh! Where is my head? Sorry folks my title says London to Rome and then I changed my mind in my post without changing the title.

Can you please help me in approximate costs of taking a train from:

a) Paris to Milan?
b) Paris to Venice?
c) Paris to Rome?

Preferably an economy sleeper if such a thing exists.

Sorry for the confusion!

You should simply re-post.

Best wishes,

Another new registrant, seemingly lost from their post. Fodors: how about sending an e-mail with the URL of this thread?

While I doubt that this thread is of great interest to many registrants on this forum, I thought it worthwhile to share one bit of info.

A staff member from Fodors, who has sent me unsolicited correspondence about six weeks ago, did reply to me about this (one of countless) case(s) of "lost newbie" (or at least I believe that it was the same staff member, she didn't sign her last name this time, and she replied to me under the [email protected] e-mail address)...

She indicated that she did alert this poster and provided a "quick tutorial" on how to use the forum(s).

I have written back asking for more details on this "quick tutorial". It seems like something quite valuable to share with other new registrants at the time of new registration, and worthwile to post in a public place here on this website.

I'll post updates if I hear any.

If this discussion seems like something better discussed off the forum, I encourage you... one and all... to e-mail me directly.

London to Paris Eurostar from $90 and on up depending on day of week and availability - if under 26 as low as $45. Artesia Night Train Paris-Rome economy T-6 six-berth couchette including rail fare about $120 - check www.trenitalia.com for PREM fares that are deeply discounted but hard to book.
