Train from Florence to Milan/Malpensa Airport

We are travelling from Florence to Milan to catch a plane to Morocco. I've been told that Milan Malpensa Airport is one and one-half hours north of Milan. Any input on actual train time and route (i.e. are there direct trains from Florence to airport) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Kelley:

The trains from Florence go to Milan every hour or so. Some are faster than others. When you get to Milan you take a bus(or taxi$$) to the Malpensa Airport from the Milan train station. Travel time is roughly three hours from Florence to Milan(depending on which train you take) and another hour by bus to Malpensa. Malpensa is about 40 km north of Milan. To get train schedules in English go to www.fs-on-line.com/eng/index.html

There have been a few postings on the forum about getting to Malpensa. Search here on Malpensa or search on Malpensa on an outside search engine. Malpensa Airport has its own informative site, although I can't lay my hands on the URL right now.

Good luck!

Scott

I am pretty sure that there is now a fast train from Milan to Malpensa - about a half hour ride.
If you go to Yahoo, and type Malpensa Airport Milan in the search engine, it will take you to the airport site, which covers the trains and other ground transport.

I think www.malpensa.it is the website for the airport. Includes info on lodging, too.

All please remember, that the new MALPENSA EXPRESS train DOES NOT go to Milano Centrale station. It ends downtown near the Duomo at a Metro station. To get to Centrale from the airport you still must take the MALPENSA SHUTTLE bus($6.50), or ca$$).
