There is no reason whatsoever to do that if you have no problem with the SNCF website, which I didn't last year. I admit for some prior years, it would not accept my American CC (there was no other problem at all with it, except for people who can't read French), but it did last year with no problem. I always buy from the source if it works, why wouldn't you. In fact, I've seen cases where trainline does NOT give you all the train options that SNCF does.
