Train from Barcelona to Girona

Will be arriving in Barcelona at 3:45 pm on Aug 25 and taking train to Girona. My question is should we get train tickets in advance or just buy at the counter? I'm not concerned about the cost, just wondering if there is a chance the trains will be sold out. (first trip to Spain!)

Put angst to rest - these are commuter trains (in addition to mainline trains that require seat reservations) that go all the time - never sell out as there are no reserved seats I believe and unlikely to be full - lots of trains just buy once in Barcelona at the train station.

Note the new high-speed train line Barcelona to France also serves Girona but not need to take that on this very short train ride on regular trains. For more info on Spanish trains check out Schedules are at - official site of Spanish Railways.
