Train from Amsterdam to Paris

Can I pre-book/purchase round-trip tickets online?

Thanks in advance!

PalQ Feb 13th, 2006 10:30 AM

Yes - cheapest is Smilys fare - only sold in round trips but hard to book so act quick - can book up to 90 days in advance. Compare with US prices if in US (call BETS 800-441-2387), a RailEurope agent who are Thalys experts and also sell the Smilys fare (could be more or less than online thru www.thalys.com or www.sncf.com sites.

Unless Rail Europe is offering lower fares than the rail companies themselves these days, better to check the rail sites provided (SNCF and Thalys).

When booking my son's recent trip, I called 1 800 441 2387 Budget Europe Travel Service . They were a tremendous help booking his rail tickets.

francophile03:

Whilst RailEurope is often more expensive on thalys than the thalys or sncf sites, not always. For example last summer they had a 50% off Thalys sale that was then, at that time, cheaper than either SNCF or Thalys sites. Pays to check all three in my experience and compare handling fees and ease of getting the ticket. But you're right in general those european sites would be better usually...but not always.

I am on the sncf.com site and am having good luck with the reservation, however, I am confused about which country to use? I read somewhere to just put France -- is this what I should do? Will I get an email similar to an e-ticket for airfare? Thanks again to all.

ttt

PalQ - what does it mean? "ttt"...??

PalQ Feb 14th, 2006 07:23 AM

ttt is what Fodorites use to 'top' a posting before it sinks into the black hole of past posts to never surface again - ttt is to top to see if anyone else has something to add before it disappears.

Cool! Thanks for the valuable tip. Can anyone help me out here?

Hi mi,

Use Netherlands as the country.

For nonexchangeable discount tickets, you should be given the option to print your own ticket at home.

If not, have them mailed to you c/o your hotel.
