train from ams to paris

I was thinking about taking a train ride from AMS to Paris. I know Thalys train provides this service, any other trains? Do I have to be a Thalys member to buy a ticket or can anyone do it? Taking a train seems more efficient than traveling via plane, am I right? I feel like traveling with a plane you loose lots of time getting to the airport early, boarding, and then traveling to get back into the city. Any suggestions would be wonderful!

Also, anything specific I need to know about traveling via Thalys?

Thalys is just the name of express train. All you have to do is buy the tickets. But do look far in advance (months) to get discounts.

Either www.thalys.com or www.b-europe.com - you print your own ticket.

Booking usually opens around 120 days ahead.

Fares range from €35 if booked 3-4 months ahead to €130 if bought on the day, just like budget airlines.
