Train fr Venice to Flo...still confused!

Please help.

I've checked out the previous threads and the Trenitalia and RailEurope sites and am still confused.

1) the economy fares are sold out for all of the morning trains (Mestre).

(this tells me that the Mestre is the more popular route. From what I understand, to get to the Mestre station, you still need to train 10min from S. Lucia.)

2) Wouldn't the S. Lucia be more convenient?

3) Does "sold out" only apply to online reservations and we can still get economy seats at the station?

My dilemma.....should I buy online with what is available or wait to buy at the station? And....Mestre or S. Lucia.

Grazie!

When are you looking to travel?

Santa Lucia is the station actually in Venice, and Mestre is on the main land. All trains in or out of SL pass through Mestre.

You should be able to purchase an Amica discount fare for trains up to 60d in the future.

Tell us dates/times and we can look.

Oops....I forgot the date.

October 15, 2007. We prefer to leave anytime between 10am and 12pm.

Thx a bunch!

Hi AS,

You want to purchase the Amica fare from Venice San Lucia to Florence on August 15.

You can't buy more than 60 days out.

Ira,

Sounds good. Now, what is the Amica fare? Is that something I book on the Trenitalia site?

Thx for your help.

When you go to book your train any time after Aug 15 (no hurry), you will at some point see a pull down menu for 'fare'. Standard, Flexi, Amica, etc.

Some of the fares are only valid for Italian residents, so the best fare for non-residents is the Amica fare, 20% off the standard rates.
