train fare

If we buy a carte orange how much more do we pay to go to chartres, Versailles and to Giverny. Plus, does anyone know the cost of the taxi from Giveryny train station to Monet's garden. We're 3 people so probably economical to share a taxi rather than wait for a bus

CO as per discussion yesterday gives no discounts off such trajectories

I don't believe that there is a "Giverny train station". You mean Vernon, which is 4 km away. According to http://giverny.org/transpor/index.htm, it's 12 euro for a taxi - - if it is up-to-date. Sounds about right to me.

Best wishes,

As Rex says, to get to Giverny, take a train to Vernon. That trip--and a trip to Chartres--require traveling on regional trains which take you far beyond the zones that can be included on a Carte Orange.

The price you pay for a Carte Orange depends upon the number of zones it covers. A zone 1-2 Carte Orange includes all of Paris out to the edge of the suburbs. Versailles is in zone 4. You can buy a Forfait Loisirs at RER stations that cover your admission to Versailles AND your fare both ways on the RER & Metro for a total price of €21.45, less than for a stand-alone Versailles pass. If you buy a Paris Museum Pass, entrance to Versailles is included. In that case, just buy separate tickets on the RER to Versailles and back. Note, however, that the Paris Museum pass does NOT cover the weekend musical fountain shows while the Forfait Loisirs does.
