Train des Pignes
 

Can anyone tell me if there are toilets on the Train des Pignes from Nice to Annot. I believe it is about a 2 hour to 3 hour duration.

Yes it is a normal train with rather crude IME toilets. Nothing luxurious about this train.

Sit on the right side of the train for the best views of the villages alonv the Var river (Entrevaux).

You can do as many hikers do walk between stations - I did a few-mile walk between Annot and some other station - lots of hiking trails - easy that go along the rail line. Note that this is NOT again a luxurious tourist train though there may be special tourist trains in high season - but ordinary trains are local trains and IME tracks can be rather rough - on one jaunt the diesel fumes were blowing in the windows - but a really neat train and gives you a completely different view of the remote interior of an older less developed less glitzy Provence than you see along the Cote d'Azur.

And these are flat-fare trains I think - no discounts for advance purchase just buy a ticket before the train - buy a retour ticket or round-trip ticket to save hassle of buying one on the way back - some of those stations may not be staffed at times but should have automatic ticketing machines.

Entrevaux is probably the most unique of the towns the train goes thru - a good destination - Annot is nice too - do both perhaps - when I went to Annot one August few tourists were there and dogs were sleeping in the streets - a real quiet town!
