Train/Bus Routes
Hi - can anyone tell me the best way to get to/from the following:
Rome to Sorrento Sorrento to Pompeii Sorrento to Capri Athens to Naflion Thanks! |
Rome to Sorrento via train to Naples then transfer to Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento.
Sorrento to Pompeii via Circumvesuviana (make sure you get the ticket to Pompeii Scavi). Sorrento to Capri - must take a boat from the harbor in Sorrento. Take the bus from Piazza Tasso to the harbor (buy a ticket in any bar). |
Athens-Nafplion, 15 buses a day, takes about 2&half hours, just under €12 a ticket one way.
There are 2 main bus stations in Athens, you need Kiffisou station. Go into the ticket office to get your ticket & seat allocation, look for the window marked Argolid. You have to purchase your ticket before boarding. |
Hi CB - There is also an inexpensive direct Rome-Sorrento bus service if you prefer that option. For details see:
www.marozzivt.it www.curreriviaggi.it Alternatively if cost is not an issue you could arrange a limo transfer from Naples station to Sorrento. Hope this helps ... Steve |
Hi CB,
Since you are inexperienced with computers and don't know what to do - Italian trains: www.trenitalia.com, www.vesuviana.it Italian Ferries: www.capri.net/en/ship-timetable In future, go to www.google.com and enter the information you desire, eg <Ferry Sorrento Capri>. You will be amazed at the wealth of information available on the internet. ((I)) |
Athens to Nafplio - bus, 2.5 hours, 18E RT.

Do you know whether the buses from Kiffisou station are covered under the Italy Eurail pass?
I checked the Eurail site and it doesn't specify which buses are covered. Thanks! |
So -- are you going ahead w/ your original plan? I thought all the posts on your other thread had convinced you otherwise.
