Train - bus link between Poland and Budapest / Prague

Hi there!
I'm working my way to enter Poland from Budapest to Krakow and exit from Warsaw to Prague, preferably without flights.
My guidebook for eastern europe has very limited information.
Hoping this connection should be feasible, has anybody more info for time - cost?
Overnight trains work fine for me when available, or a stop at a nice place en route.
Many many thanks
Nikos

Overnight train connects Budapest to Krakow - daytime it would take all day

Krakow to Warsaw about hourly trains take 3 hours

Warsaw to Prague - another overnight train or in the day about nine hours.

You probably can easily buy these upon arrival or if you like to have everything in place - esp the overnight trains which could be hard to book perhaps just before the train - contact www.budgeteuropetravel.com IMO experts with great personal service. But you would pay more there then there usually - i always book my night trains in Europe and never have much a problem but i have not taken train in Poland and Hungary so do not know how easy it is to book them there just before the train.

thanks for the info, i'll work on these.well, I find here and there some prices for train tickets between cities of east europe and they seem a lot more expensive to what I expected about this part of the continent!
I wonder how the locals can make it.
Thanks, I'll keep on searching - anybody with spesific info please do send more suggestions!
cheers
Nikos

When are you traveling? If you're underway, as I suspect, the best would be to ask locals, and / or go directly to the train station. You can purchase train tickets from travel agencies (some of them, but in Poland, not very many)but you will pay a lot more. The best is to go to the stations and ask there. There are normally smaller offices in the main stations where one can purchase international tickets. They have staff who speak English. Don't stand in the long queues for everybody buying tickets -- unless there is not such a place in a smaller station.

Yes, the prices are not dirt cheap anymore. It's a shock to the system. But they are functioning at the same level as western europe. You should not have much problem buying a ticket.

I hope this is helpful. Good luck and have a wonderful time. You will have lots of interesting experiences and lots of important history! And beautiful things to see! Even if you may have to look a bit beyond the externals.
