What do you mean by daily trips - just once or over and over - if over and over then look at things like the Half-Fare Card or Swiss Pass - if just once then yes that is what it will cost as there are no discounts really for these type of train trips in Switzerland TMK - for lots of good stuff about Swiss trains and passes (if doing daily commutes) check out these IMO superb sites - www.swisstravelsystem.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

But the pass would only be viable if you are doing those trips on a daily basis.

Switzerland is very expensive. Expect everything there to be too high.

As noted - for single trips - versus long-term passes - that's what the price is.

Is there a bus that you can take that is cheaper?

tipsygus Jan 11th, 2014 01:44 PM

cferrb purely for information, if there is a train service between two points ie Zurich and Berne and Berne to Basel there is no bus service. The bus services usually complement the train and go to destinations the train don't example from Frutigen to Adelboden on the Bernese Oberland. I would have thought, |I haven't checked, that a half price Pass would be worth investigating, there is one month Pass, which can be bought on arrival in Switzerland

Half-Price pass costs about $130-140 to start then you get 50% off so not worth it.

If you want to know individual ticket prices and travel times check the official SBB train page:
