Train

I wish to take a train from Trieste to Bar. Is this possible and cost please?

Hi. ekim,

do you mean Bari?

If you look on www.trenitalia.com, you'll find that it takes all day, or all night. most day-time trains have at least one or two changes. there's what looks like a direct sleeper leaving Venice at about 7pm.

hope this helps,

regards, ann

Probably means Bar, Montenegro, south of Dubrovnik in southern former Yugoslavia

And though Bar does have train service from Belgrade and Belgrade is reachable by train from Trieste it would take at least a day of travel or more

I think the best way would be to take the boats along the former yugoslavia coast from rijeka (short enough bus ride from Trieste) to Dubrovnik then go by bus to Bar.

Alternatively from Ancone or Bari Italy there are boats to Bar and that may be a better route if the coastal boats Rijeka down are not running and i think they are seasonal

There could be buses along the coast but i'm not familiar with them if they are

Check Lonely Planet guide to the area for any info on them

Fly would be my suggestion.

The shipping service along the Croatian coast from Rijeka to Dubrovnik is run by Jadrolinija (www.jadrolinija.hr), and runs twice weekly all year. Buses run along the Croatian coast, linking Rijeka, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik every hour or so.
