Traghetti in Venice

I had read that the traghetti (i.e., the gondola ferries that cross the Grand Canal) run on a somewhat limited schedule. One example: Santa Maria del Giglio to the Salute and vice versa only until 1PM. Am I understanding this information correctly? I found this info in a wonderful (and otherwise very helpful) guide from www.travelplan.it.

Thanks!

This is the info I have...

2. San Samuele 7.40-13.15 (no service on public holidays).
3. San Tomà 7-20.55 (public holidays 8-19.55).
4. Al Carbon 8-14 (no service on public holidays).
5. Santa Sofia 7-20.55 (public holidays 7.30-18.55).
6. San Marcuola 7.45-13.00 (no service on public holidays).

Thanks, tuckharvey. Perhaps I am neglecting the fact that when the traghetti are not available, one can still get onto a vaporetto? I am just imagining going for a lovely stroll in Dorsoduro in the evening and not being able to get back to our hotel...I am sure I must be missing something..new to the canal travel system as I am ;)

The vaporetti are the public bus system of Venice. There is even - limited - service during the night.

You're certainly not stranded - you can easily work your way back to the Ponte dell'Accademia. Don't fret...

Thanks, Tuckharvey. My fretting has now come to an end! :)

Anyone knows the price (roundtrip) for the ferry from Venice to Lido? I'm planning to go with a small car... Thanks!
