Traffic in Provence on Easter Monday
 

I'm planning to start exploring the towns of Provence by car on Easter Monday. Will the roads be crowded because of the holiday?

Well Jeff we are planning to do the same thing. Hope someone out there can help Jeff and I.

The major roads and motorways may be crowded because of people rushing back at the end of the week-end.<BR>Should you choose smaller roads, it should be OK, specially for exploring the area.

Thanks Joelle. I'm thinking of going to Gordes and Rousillon that day. Do you think I'd be better off to visit Pont du Gard and Les Baux instead? Or, would they be crowded as well?

Pont du Gard can handle big crowds, Les Beau cannot. Can't tell you about the others.

Peter, thanks for the information--and what a great web site. I wish I had found it sooner. Since you're in the area. I'd really appreciate your thoughts on my itinerary. <BR><BR>I'm staying in Avignon Easter Sunday. I then plan to rent a car on Easter Monday to visit the Luberon area that day. I'd then drive to Arles and stay there for 3 nights as a base. I plan drive to Les Baux, Pont du Gard and Uzes on Tuesday. I'd have Wednesday morning in Arles for the market. I could then visit other nearby sites that afternoon.<BR><BR>I'm pretty much locked into having the car for 3 days and where I'd stay. But, I could easily change what I see and when.
