Trafalgar Tours
My wife and I are taking a Trafalgar Tour for 21 days in July. Can anyone who has done this let us know what to expect. Specifically, London, Amsterdam, Koblenz, Munich, Oberammergau, Venice,
Rome, Montecatini, Lucerne, and Paris. Any info would be appreciated. |
I have taken several Trafalgar tours and they have always been good. Their hotels are nice, the included meals are good and often in interesting places. Their guides are very well informed. In London, they will take you on a brief orientation tour of the city and you will probably have a lot of time on your own. Trafalgar has representatives in their London hotels. You can arrange optional tours through these agents and also obtain tickets for attractions. If you are interested in Madame Tussaud's you may buy tickets from Trafalgar at a discount and also avoid the lengthy lines. Breakfast is always included with their tours and it is always good. Their optional tours are well chosen and well worth the money. You will like Trafalgar.

I travelled with Trafalgar four times and will do it again on 16th May. After trying several companies I think they are the best, an excellent organisation, good hotels and a very good guide (tour director) on the bus.(Not the driver makes the guiding). You must know that Trafalgar ist very expensive, because they sell you in fact important excursions as "extras". Whenever you see in the program a free day or free hours, the meaning is, that they will offer you for these hours an "extra", so the price of your tour will be in reality much higher than in the original program.

We went on a wonderful tour of Europe in '93 with Globus. Everything was as promised. This summer we are planning to use Trafalgar as their itinerary was more confortable than Globus. Fodors book on Europe categorizes Globus as deluxe and Trafalgar as first class. I was always under the impression they were the same both price and confort wise. Anyone out there that has used both? I really would love a comparison. Thanks.

I traveled on a 14 day Trafalgar tour of France a few years ago and thought it was great. Prior to the trip my wife and I debated whether to go it alone or use a touring company. I'm glad we used Trafalgars for our first trip to Europe. Instead of hassling with the language, directions and customs, we were able to sit back in comfortable seats and be guided by a knowledgable, articulate and funny guide through the wonderful country side of France. For our first trip to Europe I'm completely satisfied with our decision. Now I'm heading back to Europe this summer and am ready to take on all the challenges of new cultures and currency with my own planned itinerary. And I know I'll enjoy it just as much as the last trip!

I also went on a Trafalgar Tour a few years ago (England). Since I was travelling alone, I thought it best to go with a tour. I didn't regret my decision. Trafalgar Tours is a classy operation - hotels were comfortable and elegant, the food was good (hotel restaurants were good for dinner but some only served continental breakfasts!) and the guides were knowledgable (my favorite was the driver - he was hilarious!). The guide even took us on little side trips (a quick pub stop in Edinburgh and around Liverpool) that were not on the tour itinerary - it was a nice bonus! The only thing that I found was wrong was that the trip ended too soon! There were some stops that I felt were too touristy (but then again, what did I expect - I was a tourist!!!) and others that were sublime! Since I enjoyed my first trip with Trafalgar Tours, I am going on another tour with them this summer - to Italy! I'm bringing someone along with me this time! Enjoy your trip!
