I think Equity might have had something to say about that...

stokebailey Jul 22nd, 2009 08:29 AM

Really? For standing there being herself?

Cholmondley_Warner Jul 22nd, 2009 09:05 AM

So then peeps. What would you do?

There's an outside chance (about 16-1) that I might get a go. I have some ideas. (I was going to take a laptop and do what peeps suggested from aruond the world)

You?

Incidentally I thought this was a bit of a daft idea, but now I think it's genius. It really does reflect Britian. Loons, obsessives, people caught in the limelight etc.

It's by the same people who did the mechainical elephant. We have them on a ten year retainer. Good.

Here's the oliphant:

Watching this thing walk down Whitehall was one of my top ten experiences ever.

Me and another million people. We love this stuff.

I've been trying to decide whether I'd buy new clothing for the occasion. I think no. Identity-concealing costume, yes.

>>Really? For standing there being herself?<<

For working for nothing. Antony Gormley didn't set this up for a cup of tea and a bun, you know.

stokebailey Jul 22nd, 2009 10:32 AM

Ah.

It would be extremely hard work for me to be up there, but others make it seem like child's play.

Apres_Londee Jul 22nd, 2009 06:51 PM

I don't believe it- the website's down again.

The elephant was fantastic. I loved it.

Anon. is leading the early morning crowd in a 4 part participation song. He's chatty, and has lots of props up there, including a bicycle and a stack of books. I like him, telling us to seize the moment. 0400-0500 is a fun slot. I hope Cholms gets that one.

I'd impersonate a statue of Boadicea, long red hair, fierce look, and all. Maybe a spear.

stokebailey Jul 23rd, 2009 01:51 PM

Kath, on now, is dancing nearly nude with interesting body paint. Very effective.

stokebailey Jul 23rd, 2009 01:56 PM

Not surprisingly, she has one of the more appreciative audiences.

Apres_Londee Jul 23rd, 2009 03:49 PM

A Christian Bon Jovi fan is on now. She's not doing anything except pacing back and forth and occasionally posing like she thinks she's being shot by the paparazzi.

I don't think she's on the proper medication.

Apres_Londee Jul 23rd, 2009 03:51 PM

I don't get it. It's Thursday night. Where are the drunks?

janisj Jul 23rd, 2009 04:06 PM

"<i>I don't get it. It's Thursday night. Where are the drunks</i>"

They did whistle and cat call when she changed from her tee shirt into a football jersey. - maybe they're just warming up.

janisj Jul 23rd, 2009 04:24 PM

Prom on the Plinth -- She is having fun -- can't wait for Rule Britannia :)

Apres_Londee Jul 23rd, 2009 04:36 PM

Oh I like this lady-she's having a blast up there! I'll bet she does this in her living room at home all the time.

I'm glad there aren't any drunks aren't giving her a hard time- in fact they probably appreciate her and where she's coming from.

Apres_Londee Jul 23rd, 2009 05:06 PM

omg a talking mime with no pants.

trsny Jul 23rd, 2009 06:27 PM

My friend was on the plinth, on the 17th, between 8-9am.

janisj Jul 23rd, 2009 06:35 PM

trsny: That was Deidre, right? I loved her -- that constructed gown was fabulous.

alya Jul 23rd, 2009 07:42 PM

The latest plinther was dressed as an astronaut for a while, now he's in a suit drinking out of a wine glass hitting golf balls.

Some very inventive plinthers but some are really rather boring :(
