Trading Airline Miles
I need 11,000 FF miles in my Continental account to qualify for a free ticket. I have 24,000 in each of my American and USAir accounts. I've Googled to see if there is some kind of club, warehouse, whatever, for trading miles but can't find anything nor could I find anything on this site by lots of keywords. Does anyone know if this is feasible? I want to fly from GVA to BOS for my 35th high school reunion this summer.

Have you tried flyertalk.com
Have you looked into the cost of purchasing additional miles? Have you looked into the possibility that buying a cheap R/T ticket may ultimately be less expensive than the money it cost you to accumulate all those miles? Just some thoughts, that's all. |
I haven't seen any flights under $1,200 which is why I thought maybe trading or selling might work. But I never thought about purchasing additional miles. Will take a look at both of your suggestions - thanks!

Would flying to London on Easyjet and on to Boston from there be any cheaper?
Have you tried using itasoftware.com and using the MONTH-LONG search feature? |
Since miles can't be moved from one program to another easily, and/or without a big penalty, it's just not feasible for you.
The "trading" of miles on Flyertalk.com and elsewhere means you already have enough miles on one program (say 50,000 miles on CO), and you want to get a free ticket on AA. There you will claim a CO ticket for someone, and that person will claim a AA ticket for you. What you're trying to do is different, and is next to impossible. |
