Towns outside Dublin

Hi, I will be in Ireland for St Pat's day and Dublin is booked. Any suggestions for a place outside of Dublin that would make it easy to get into the city without using a car.
Thanks,
Karen

On another forum I read a very positive post about Malahide. It's north of Dublin and on the sea, but still covered by the Dublin bus system.

Hi Karen,

I prefer South Dublin and would recommend
Dun Laoghaire, Killiney, Dalkey,Monkstown, Blackrook, Greystones or Eniskerry.

I would vote with cambe for Greystones, a little known treasure. Have fun

Malahide and especially Greystones are quite far out. Blackrock is easily accessible by dart and there was a B&B ny friend tends to dtay in there for business called Idrone house. As well Blackrock is a nice town with good restaurants and punbs if one night you so not want to venture into the city. Forget a car in Dublin it is not worth the hassle get rid of it for a few days while here. Oh and book now you are leaving it late already.

I would stay in Dun Laoghaire. It's a short train ride into the city.
