Town to use as base in provence

We will be in Provence for 7 days and will be renting a car. What we would like is to be based within walking distance to a town center that is not dead in the evening so we can sit and have a late evening cafe or wine. We also do not want to pay 20 euro to park. I know this's is asking a lot but any help would be appreciated. Our budget is under 200 dollars per day.

L'Isle-sur-la Sorgue. good sized town, lots of resaurants. Lots of varied accommodation around there. Central and easy to travel around Provence.

St.-Remy is popular as a base. It too is well-situated for day-tripping by car.

What part of Provence? It's a huge area? Where are you planning to concentrate?

Another vote for St Remy. It's handy to so much else too, like Arles, Les Baux, the Camargue, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and the villages of the Luberon.
